Hi everyone! nakanit here, and I’m back with a new playlist woop wooop!
I’m sorry I’ve been totally lacking in the posting department lately. I’ve been working through some things so the blog sort of took a backseat for a few weeks. Besides that, it’s been pretty busy around the house getting ready for the holidays. We actually have our tree up this year, and we’ve been steadily working through our usual rounds of holiday get-togethers with family and friends. With the cold snap we’ve been experiencing here in Edmonton and the holidays around the corner, this new playlist is pretty heavy on the Christmas mood. My apologies in advance to the non-festive folks!
The Christmas 2016 Playlist
- 10cm – 내 눈에만 보여 (My Eyes) (Goblin OST)
- Nujabes (Cover) – Shiki no Uta (Samurai Champloo OST)
- Bing Crosby – Happy Holidays (Beef Wellington Remix)
- Charlie Brown Christmas Hip Hop/Rap Remix
- Patti Page – Frosty the Snowman (Rondo Brothers Remix)
- Dean Martin – Let It Snow!
- Nat King Cole – Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire
- Ella Fitzgerald – What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? (Mangini vs. Pallin Remix)
So on Wednesday last week, I made the mistake of watching fresh out the oven K-drama Goblin, which features one of my favorite actors Gong Yoo of Coffee Prince fame (what a freaking stud). Music usage on this show so far has been hitting me right in the feels, and with an interesting premise and gorgeous visuals, consider me hook, line, and sinkered. 10cm pops out of their dormancy to deliver us “My Eyes”, which I think is lovely and upbeat.
Remnants of my mellow and jazzy fall mood is why the Nujabes cover is on this list. These guys do such a great job covering an equally great song. Worth checking out.
And finally, the Christmas stuff. You didn’t think I’d walk away with Mariah Carey and ding-a-ling songs right? I’ve picked the classics here in remixed versions. Exceptions are Let It Snow! (let’s face it, Die Hard is the best Christmas movie) and Chestnuts Roasting is one of melbatee’s Christmas faves.
I have mixed feelings when it comes to Christmas. As a kid, I remember looooving the holiday. The anticipation of Santa, the cookies, the Pot of Gold chocolates are all vivid and precious memories that I have. As I grew older, the holiday jams I would listen to were all part of the experiences I had working retail around the holiday season. It would be busy but I loved the cocktail party wear (and lifestyle!) I was selling to customers, never mind the awesome discount I got on Boxing Day 🙂 Now, with my own household and responsibilities, all that’s on my mind is food prep, cooking, cleaning, baking, decorating, card writing, gift giving, and the list goes on and on…
It’s exhausting! But today I’m actually hanging out with melbatee in person, and it reminds me of why we celebrate the holidays… to bring peeps together, to be exhausted together, and to have fun together.
Happy holidays folks!! More holiday related stuff to come.
